The Spanish Experience Quilters Retreat
Sept 20th – 27th 2015
Enjoy a relaxing week at this fabulous retreat with Sylvia in spectacular surroundings, great food & lovely atmosphere. Come alone, or bring a friend either way you will have a great time.
You can spend your time hand stitching - try out the Corded & Stuffed technique that Sylvia demonstrates at the National shows – it look complicated but it is very easy to do ! Alternatively bring along something that you want to finish, or start a new project. This might be a quilt, a wall hanging, a bag or something else that you have tucked away & want to make. The workroom is fully equipped with sewing machines & all the essentials you might need, so you only have to bring your basic sewing kit – everything else is provided.
If you prefer to work by machine, it is possible to make a quilt top within the week as Sylvia will help & advise at every step of the way. There are a variety of machine techniques on offer that you might not have tried before – or maybe you would like to create a design of your own. ‘

UPDATE! - Hope Quilters 2nd Quilt & Textile Show
April 20th – 21st 2012
The quilt extravaganza was a great success and there have been so many compliments for the variety & standard of work achieved – ‘Just Hands on TV’ are currently showing their visit to our show in two parts on the website. We took just over £3,000 in the 2 days & after paying all the bills we managed to give:
£1,000 to The Prostate Cancer Charity
£360 to The Guide Dogs for the Blind + £5 per month for the next 2yrs additional puppy sponsorship
£360 to The Hearing Dogs for the Deaf + £5 per month for the next 2yrs additional puppy sponsorship
£20 to MacMillan Nurses
£10 to Demelza House
£5 to Retired Guide dogs
£10 sponsorship for a local vet to run 10k supporting ‘Petsavers’
A total of £2,005
The 25 quilts made for the injured soldiers were delivered to Headley Court, Surrey and ‘snapped up’ within 2 days of delivery.
The 64 childrens’wall hangings + 13 small quilts were given to a hospital in Kingston, Surrey following a chance conversation with Val Nesbitt who had been approached by the hospital if she knew of any small quilts & hangings available – this was great news for us after the recent cancellation of the Prison Baby Quilt Scheme.
